James Brains started the Lansing Foodies Facebook group in 2017 while living in Oregon. He loved food and got all sorts of dining ideas from Eugene Foodies. Yet, when he and Erin decided to move to Lansing, they found there wasn't a foodie group. So, James started it to find the best eats in the area. There were only about 100 members for the first two years, but as word got out, the group grew in popularity. Caesar, Erin and James's child, designed the Lansing Foodies logo, a sandwich shaped like Michigan's Lower Peninsula with a toothpick in the capital.
In June 2020, as we helped each other adjust to pandemic living, we reached 10,000 members. A year later, in June 2021, we eclipsed 20,000 members. We hit 30,000 in early 2022. And, in February 2023, we reached 40,000 members and continue to grow.
